Hi, Please do a post on how it works if you want to see castles and ruins. The National trust membership or the Historic Scotland pass. I noticed it somewhere but not sure how it all works.

That's a great question, thank you Deidré. I have both the NTS and Historic Scotland cards which gives me access to the different properties and attractions around Scotland for the year, some of which offer guided tours throughout the tourist season. Another benefit of the NTS card is that it lets you use their car parks for free. NTS only has a 12 month membership but Historic Scotland does an Explorer Pass for 14 days: https://www.historicenvironment.scot/visit-a-place/explorer-passes/
